Dao Yin Meditation Workshop

12pm - 3pm, 24 March 2024

@ BLOC BLACK BOX

Led by Angela Liu, member of the British Daoist Association

Please bring meditation cushion and blanket/mat. Max. 20 people

Dao yin is an ancient Daoist practice of aligning and stretching movements, an integral part of the ancient Daoist cultivation called yang sheng (nourishing life), which also includes meditation. In this introductory workshop, you will be guided through a set of Dao yin exercises involving simple postures and self-massage. Cultivation of dao yin comes to fruition in meditation. This is expressed in the meditation posture which is stable, aligned and relaxed, allowing the qi to follow its natural pattern. Guidance will be given to help participants to establish a suitable sitting posture.

Angela has been exploring Eastern ideas and practices for over 30 years. She was first introduced to authentic Daoist cultivation by her acupuncturist and in 2008, she met her teacher Shijing (31st generation Daoist priest/daoshi in the Dragon Gate tradition, co-founder and main teacher of the British Daoist Association) with whom she has since regularly attended retreats and events (daoists.co.uk) as well as undertaking her own personal retreats, practising jing zuo (tranquil sitting) meditation and dao yin.  Over the years, Angela has become more deeply intimate with Daoist practices and teachings that shape and flow into all aspects of her life and inspires her work.

Followed by a screening of a slow film Mama at 3:30pm
